The Regulation on the Provision of Remote Health Services Has Been Published
The Regulation on the Provision of Remote Health Services (“Tele-Med Regulation”), which was prepared to serve the provision of health services independently of place and geography and based on modern medical technology, entered into force through publication in the Official Gazette dated 10.02.2022 and numbered 31746.
The Tele-Med Regulation regulates the procedures and principles regarding the scope of remote healthcare services, issuing permissions as to healthcare facilities for the provision of remote healthcare services, developing and registering remote healthcare information system, and auditing healthcare facilities within this scope. Accordingly, the scope of the regulation includes all healthcare facilities that provide remote healthcare services, all healthcare professionals involved in remote healthcare services, remote healthcare information system developers and natural persons desiring to receive healthcare services remotely.
With the Tele-Med Regulation, the services that can be provided via the remote health information system software to be developed in accordance with the conditions determined in the regulation, and the conditions of the operating permit that should be obtained by the health facility intending to provide such services remotely are regulated. Additionally, it is also regulated that health facilities that have received international health tourism authorization certificates can provide remote health services within the scope of international health tourism and tourist health within the framework of the relevant legislation.
Finally, as of the publication date of the Tele-Med Regulation, it has been made obligatory to obtain a remote health service activity permit within six months at the latest for the health facilities that provide remote health services.
