Under the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act or the Act), Chapters I and II, covering general provisions and prohibited AI practices, entered into force on February 2, 2025. These sections establish prohibitions on AI systems that pose an unacceptable level of risk and threaten human safety.

The Act classifies AI systems based on their risk levels and imposes a complete ban on the use of systems falling within the unacceptable risk category.
